I recently carried out a “routine” update of a NGINX / Ubuntu server and apart from having to reset a couple of upload folder permissions everything went well. Well so I thought. It wasn’t until I attempted to login to a WordPress site on the server that I realised something had changed. Whilst I could login the admin style sheets were not loading and so I was presented with a broken page layout.

After trawling through the web looking at page after page of Chrome related ERR_SPDY_PROTOCOL_ERRORs I eventually came across a post that suggested the following change to the WordPress wp-config.php file. Bingo. So whilst not a fix, it’s a good work around whilst I try to understand why the server is not allowing WordPress to load multiple files in one call.
